Lava Ray

A fairly harmless, slow-moving rahi that is rarely spotted due to living in lava and spending most of it's time below the surface. The rahi used to be hunted for it's almost entirely heat-impervious exoskeleton and rubbery fins, however after a ban on it's organs was formed by local elders, the number of rays has recovered, shown by the decrease in scraps floating in lava streams which the Lava Rays mostly feed on.

Some matron have bonded closely with certain rays in recent years, and have domesticated them to ride on their backs just above the surface of magma fields in exchange for tasty scraps of rejected armour and masks.
