Value for Money
Bought this for my daughter who is four.
She loves books, Lego, and Disney.
This set was a no-brainer with all the princesses, and it looks amazing.
Unfortunately there were a few issues with the build. The dolphin just doesn't seem to fit when you close the book unless it is in precisely the exact position as it will hit the tower, which means lots of towers coming apart and needing rebuilt, which causes issues and frustrations when playing with it. In the end we decided to return the dolphin to the ocean. It's more than a minor issue, but I get that Lego want to include as much in the set as they can to add value for money and play value. Unfortunately, when part of the selling point is folding it back up into a book so you can take it with you, having to rebuild it every time you open it, is an issue.
Secondly, and this was quite a surprise for a Lego set, the instructions aren't complete. The last three stages are left to guesswork. It's not a big guess as it's just putting the last three pre-built parts onto the book, but in all my years of building Lego, I've never seen Lego leave it to the builders to finish off the set. I had to check on the box to make sure I had it in the correct order. It isn't overly an issue on this set, but it is on the frozen one.
The instructions are on one sheet of paper, I'm sure costs wouldn't have been greatly increased by adding the last three stages.
