Lego knows how to write easy to follow directions so building this was pretty straight forward. We had a few hiccups with things facing the wrong direction but they were easy to fix before getting too far into it. Since you don't get a real feel for the truck until you're nearly finished it's probably better for an older child. The final truck has been played with a bit just "driving" it around the house. The little teeth-like accessories on the truck do not stay on well when playing, so again, probably better for older kids. But building is always fun!Play Experience5.0Value for Money4.0

I received this and gave it to my 11 year old nephew for christmas. We spent about 4 hours playing with it. Man, I'm 30 years old and still had a good time with this. It wasn't too hard to put together but challenging enough that we had fun together putting it together. I'm glad it wasn't just something easy otherwise we both would have gotten bored. 3.0Truck Derby
I would recommend this to a friend!
3.5 Stars My rating for this particular set is based off the 2 builds. The Quad Bike is extremely disappointing and is genuinely not worth buying a second set for so that you can have both built simulateneously. It really does feel like a bit of an afterthought and just the best they could cobble together in the last hour on a Friday afternoon. The actual Max-D build is a 4.5 Star - the usage of the individual "fang" pieces is a pain as they drop out at the drop of a hat and although the rest of the build is super sturdy (it survived a descent off the dining table) these pieces really let it down. This is a great set for the Technic novice, priced nicely so even if you don't like the build techniques used you haven't wasted much. It is very much Technic-lite though and the usual detail and complexity associated with this theme is missing, I have similar sets and they give a far truer sense of the Technic techniques. The face-saver for this set is the pull back mechanism. Honestly, I bought two of these sets and I suspect they will be stripped down and this awesome mechanism used for something far more elaborate. If you haven't experienced the Lego pull back then you really need to - they pack plenty of power and are simple to operate. Overall, if you are a fan of the Monster Trucks franchise then this is for you. If you are a Technic fan then you may be left rather disappointed at the lacklustre builds. This monster jam max d lego set is very fun! It provides hours of fun and imaginative play. It has pull back action. It has authentic graphics and colors, movable flag and has spikes. It is a 2-n1 feature set. You can first build the monster max d model then you take it apart. Rebuild it into. Quad bike! There are so many possibilities with this set that you could make.
