- February 10th, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0Beautiful, colorful and very detailed!I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI am a Technic fan and this es my first build on a Creation building! Don’t get me wrong, my experience goes back many years and with kits like Cinderellas Castle, Taj Mahal, Millenium Falcon, Lamborghini Sian and many other thousand element creations. This was an exception since I have read so many good reviews of this kit that decided to buy it as soon as it was made available. No regrets! Over 2,000 elements, highly detailed and complex enough to keep me busy for a few days. I took, like always, my sweet old time, not rushing, but enjoying hours of building it. I do not accounted for the hours it took me to build, but they were long enough to turn into more than a week. Colorful in its design; intricate in its formation. The design of the three floors is just a work of art; the decor on the external front awnings and the way the tilling is designed to fit and display, just ingenious. Details like the commodes, the toilet paper dispensers, the jail inside, the donut shop: what an ingenious and realistic touch! We all connect policemen/policewomen with coffee and donuts! The news stand! Just wonderful and beautiful. The instruction book, well black pages would not be my first choice, but like most things in life, I guess will have to get used to them. That is our new reality, unless... Missing parts are still annoying! On this kit I had 3 missing parts that I had to order but thanks to my personal inventory, I was able to finish the build. Missing parts have been my main problem in the past builds, one that caused me to return a whole kit! On the other hand, there are always a lot of left over parts, usually small but in some instances in larga amounts! I am including a foto of my left over. Clear plastic parts: this seems to be an issue that comes up every now and then and there is a very simple solution. As they are packed in Lego and arrive to us in the many plastic bags, they arrive virtually undamaged, my experience. Mostly, they are damaged as we move them around searching parts to build the kit. What I do is, as I empty the bags, if I see any window or door frames, I search for the clear plastic and set them aside so they wont get scratched as I move the other parts around. It helps a bit. Tools, well my finger are a bit tired and swollen, so picking up small parts can some times be challenging, to say the least. For that purpose, I got from a veterinary friend of mine, a disposed set of surgical tweezers and using some very small heat shrink tubing, covered the ends so they would not scratch the small plastic bricks. They work perfectly! Of course, the Lego brick separator tool is a must! Price, well, if consider amount of research, development, engineering, amount of bricks, instructions book printing and production price, packing, box prep and printing and free shipping, I am very happy with the kit, it’s outcome, building experience and price! Enjoy your build! Oh! I forgot, we celebrate all seasons and all Holidays, that is why you can see a mantle with hearts: this February, month of Saint Valentine!!!!Play Experience4.0Level of Difficulty4.0Value for Money5.0Building Experience: Expert LEGO builderWas this helpful?55Police Station
- April 21st, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0HeadquartersI would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI have been enjoying the Modular range of buildings but I wasn't too sure about this one, particularly with the very small buildings either side of the main structure. I did love the effect of ivy trailing up the side of the building and the way the arcitecture of the Police Station matches well with the existing line so I decided that I would take the plunge and get it. I am SO glad that I did. Yes, the donut shop and the newspaper stand are small. However, proportionally they work really well with the main building. The colour contrasts work to their advantage and the donut shop feels much more spacious than it really is. It is the little details that make this one for me. However, talking of details what is the Lego obsession with toilets? It is genuinely amazing to me how many sets have a toilet build crammed in there; even better most of them are built in different ways so you do get to try a range of techniques for such a standard piece of equipment. Now I've got past that can we talk about the crime board in the office - you can't see it when it's on display as a full building but it made my dried up little heart sing with joy. Wonderful mixture of building techniques and some new SNOT uses that I hadn't used previously (or if I have then I have forgotten them). The use of the gear wheels for trees is absolute genius. Fabulous set with impressive detailing and is a great deal of fun to build. - February 4th, 2021Average rating4out of 5 stars4.0A Welcome Addition to the ModularsI would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI was really excited when Lego announced that the next modular building would be a Police Station. I've wanted one of these in the modular collection for years. I feel this set has helped cement a return towards the greatness last seen with Assembly Square. However, the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I would have liked some additional contents inside the police station such as a forensic lab, armoury, suspect line-up area as well as more police minifigures and a police car from the building era. Nevertheless, it's a good set and I really like the addition of the donut shop and the tunnel under the jail cell.Play Experience4.0Level of Difficulty4.0Value for Money4.0Build Time: 2 daysBuilding Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?45Police Station
- January 25th, 2021Average rating4out of 5 stars4.0Nice small detailsI would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfNot quite as inspiring as previous models as it didn't shout Police Station to me. The function of the building should be reflected in the style; the bank looked strong and rugged, the cinema looked artistic, the detectives office looked intriguing and the restaurant looked edible! But this was a block, which is made more obvious alongside other buildings, and made worse by the tired joke of attaching donuts to the police. Maybe the spirit of law enforcement would have been respected more by having a security device shop there instead, making it bigger to help the visual balance, covered in rivets, steel gates and maybe dark blue. Saying that though, the layout of the facilities within the station was good, the mugshot camera was tucked into a corner, and I loved the mini darkroom in the tiny space at the top of the building. Squeezing in a toilet is good, but please add a hand basin too as it educates children at the same time. Its a shame the station didn't come with a police vehicle, maybe a dog van or a wagon. But an enjoyable build, the price was a bit steep without a vehicle but nice to have three different styles of building fascia.Play Experience4.0Value for Money3.0Build Time: 9 hrsBuilding Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?45Police Station
