Looks great with the 1989 Batmobile The first thing that attracted me to this set was the ability to wall mount. This is a high quality Lego build that looks amazing on my wall.Play ExperienceAverage rating5out of 5 stars5.0Value for MoneyAverage rating5out of 5 stars5.0Build Time: 7 daysWas this helpful?551989 Batwing

Absolutely love it. The build was easy and very fast for me. The cockpit has some easter eggs and the overall presentation is much grander in person than any picture could give it credit for. It also pairs beautifully with the Batmobile. Love the exclusive mime Joker and Lawerance the henchman. I only have 1 complaint..missing a vital part. This is why I haven't posted any pictures of it. on display with the Batmobile currently it's just sitting tight ( see photos ). The part, which lego is sending me, was a white rubber o-ring which attached the outside wing edge to the main body. It was also missing a 1x1 flat dark grey square needed for the cockpit. Luckily I had plenty of spare parts to replace this common part. This is also why it's 4 and not 5 stars. Mistakes happen, but still, missing 2 parts on a $200 kit is not a good thing to see. Regardless I would highly recommend this kitLevel of DifficultyAverage rating2out of 5 stars2.0Value for MoneyAverage rating5out of 5 stars5.0Build Time: 3 hrsBuilding Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?451989 Batwing

The build itself was pretty straight forward, and while there were a lot of technic frames and plates in the first few bags, you can understand the necessity of having a strong stable foundation, especially since it’s designed to be able to be hung on a wall. I’m always in awe at some of the techniques the designers use to create their models, and this was no exception. The highlight of this is definitely the curvature of the wings! Whilst not to give anything away, it certainly surprised me a bit. The only negative for me was the absence of the Batclaw (which is used to capture Joker’s balloons in the movie). Undoubtably this would have made a wonderful feature, especially if it was moveable, but I’d like to think the designers just couldn’t make it work. The minifigs I thought were a great choice, and while I agree to a point that they should have chosen Bob over Lawrence, it still makes for a nice unique minifig on display. However, the Joker steals the show! While it’s not the Joker we see in the scene with the Batwing (which would have looked too similar to the Joker with the Batmobile), he looks awesome. I still would have liked to have seen the long barreled gun with him though (would have made for a very unique addition to the minifig and set). With everything built, it looks absolutely amazing on display, especially next to the Batmobile. Now all I need is a working bat signal and my 1989 LEGO experience will be complete.Play ExperienceAverage rating4out of 5 stars4.0Level of DifficultyAverage rating3out of 5 stars3.0Value for MoneyAverage rating4out of 5 stars4.0Build Time: 6 hrsBuilding Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?451989 Batwing
