    I got this set for my Dad to relieve some Lockdown boredom and boy did it. He has not had a LEGO set since he was around 10 so a good 58 years ago and I was not sure how this would go down. At first he did put some dots wrong but got into the swing of it and powered through the rest. He did at least 1 of the 9 squares the picture is broken down into each day and this is a great way of remembering where you are up to. The end result is brilliant, exactly as it looks on the box and he has requested another 3 sets to complete the Fab 4. The set has all the pieces to build any of the Beatles you want one at a time, a simple "Which will you build?" on the box would clear up the confusion around it only being 1 set in the box that some people seem to be having. For me it means that you get more more out of the set as you can build, destroy and rebuild in different fashions when the mood suits you. For my Dad he wants to display the set alongside the other members above his jukebox so we will be purchasing more sets.

    These sets are terrific. Bought all four anticipating that they would soon be out of stock and they soon were (isn't everything these days). Always seemed perfectly clear to me that each set would make only one portrait, you just chose which portrait it would be. Added advantage is that there are always dots left over. By the time I make all four Beatles, I'll have quite a collection of colored dots. So far I've only completed Ringo and I'm really pleased how good it looks. Larger than I anticipated and the colors really pop out at you. A fabulous example of pointilism. The build isn't difficult, but you need to pay attention -- a great activity for those of us that are more or less shut in these days. Great sets.

    These Look fantastic when completed. I have already built both John and Paul, I'm just waiting for two more to arrive so I can complete the set with George and Ringo. I do have some complaints however. First, the way the instructions are held in the box causes damage to the corners. Second, Why use the red 2x2 corners on the back instead of just using more of the white 2x2 squares or bigger plates? I found that the red bricks popped off a lot until the frame is done. Next, It would have been nice if the tile bags were numbered according to color. My biggest complaint has to do with the app. I was expecting to hear some actual music, not a pod cast of two people talking about the White album. Finally, I have as question, Why do the Beatles and Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe use tiles while the Star Wars and Iron-man sets use plates?

    An interesting change of pace, but quality issues

    I bought one set to see how much I liked it before committing to buy all 4. I wouldn't really call it a Lego set, as it's nothing like building with Lego, but rather putting smooth pips on a grid. That said, I really enjoyed it, knowing it wasn't a traditional set going in. I found that each square took around an hour to complete, probably less if I was more focused. The picture looks great on my mantle, as will the other 3 Beatles as I pick up more sets. I haven't tried hanging it on the wall, as I'm not sure how well the pieces will hold up with time. A couple things struck me as things that need improvement. First, I'm used to Lego including an extra brick for small pieces, as they did with the connecting rod pieces, so I figured they would include an extra dot of each color. For the most part, you will have plenty left over, based on which portrait you make. But, for John Lennon, the exact number of dots for two colors were included. I assume this would be the same case for the other portraits (albeit with different colors). This wouldn't be a problem, as I'm not prone to losing pieces, but this leads me to my next point. One of the dark brown (#15) dots was a melted blob of plastic instead of a usable brick. And of course, this was one of the colors that you need every single one of to create the John Lennon portrait. I substituted a black dot in its place for now, as I'll be ordering more sets to complete the full set, so I'll be able to replace it then. But, it would have been nice to have the proper number of usable pieces needed to complete the portrait I was working on. This was the first time I ever found a manufacturing defect in any Lego set I've purchased over the years. I do wish that Lego offered a mega set of all 4 portraits at a slight discount ($400 instead of $440, for example), and include just enough dots to create all 4 portraits (plus a couple extra just in case). I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the bag full of leftover dots when I'm done with all 4. Those issues aside, I do recommend this set for any Beatles fan who is looking for an interesting project that is a different change of pace from a typical Lego set.
