- November 29th, 2018Average rating4out of 5 stars4.0Good set, deserved UCS treatmentgumbo102 |I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfNice set and a fun build. I would argue though that this should have been a UCS set with more pieces/detail. Not along the lines of the 8k piece Falcon, but maybe something like the Death Star. That said, at 2800 pieces it does have some good features and the mini slave was a nice touch. However at $350 it's a bit pricey. I am noticing Lego is increasing price/piece on recent Star Wars sets (Snokes Throne Room being perhaps the worst offender). It's sad and will probably result in me buying fewer sets.Level of Difficulty3.0Building Experience: Expert LEGO builderWas this helpful?45Betrayal at Cloud City™
- October 4th, 2018Average rating2out of 5 stars2.0Display Look + Price = Not a great setSammyD |Purchased for: SelfAs all of us are I am a huge lego fan -- in particular Star Wars sets. It is a rare miss for lego with big Star Wars set but unfortunately, this is one of them. First, the pros: minifigs are amazingly detailed and really good. The cloud car is pretty cool as well as Slave 1. Lastly, playability is none stop as there are many rooms to play in if you are a younger lego fan or older I guess there is not a problem with playing after all! Now the cons: I am sorry, I know there is a premium on Star Wars branded items but this is not worth $350.00 for me. I really do not know who Lego was targeting here. It is not technically UCS but Master Builder which would justify the price I guess but with this price, I need to be able to display it. It looks horrible on display. It really is just a playset for a younger audience but with a collectors price tag. All my high-end Star Wars sets are able to be displayed and very nicely too. This set is awkward looking and I just do not like it in my opinion. The build itself was also kind of blah for me on a tech aspect, again for it being Master Builder (still not clear on this). Not super impressive but I admit the rooms and scenes are fun to build though. Also, this may be of interest to some but my review of this set may also have something to do with the Harry Potter Hogwarts castle I just purchased. 6000+ pieces for $400.00 (Hogwarts) but when I saw 2000+ for this set at $350.00 it was a huge turn-off. Lego maybe next time space them apart so the huge price per piece ratio is not so glaring. Anyway, this is this Lego collectors opinion and if you do enjoy the set that is awesome! For me, though I really felt like I wasted a lot of money. 1 caveat, If Lego took the Luke vs. Vader part and made that a mini set I would be all over that. - January 4th, 2019Average rating4out of 5 stars4.0Would by againI would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfThe overall set looks meh, on display I personally wouldn't recommend it. Just takes up way to much space. But for $350(USD), I think it meets expectations. The build is VERY easy and no difficulties at all! The designer was given a task: Make cloud city, which is a fairly large place in the Star Wars universe, make it good for kids, and make it work/make it fun. This was almost an impossible responsibility, but hey you get great figures, you can recreate scenes from my favorite Star Wars film. Fun: Yes, For Kids: Yes, Does every kid have $350? No. 8/10 would rebuild again.Play Experience4.0Level of Difficulty2.0Value for Money2.0Build Time: 9 hrs 30 minsBuilding Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?45Betrayal at Cloud City™
- November 22nd, 2018Average rating4out of 5 stars4.0A good tryJake96 |I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfA good attempt to please the many types of Lego fans. The design is a great play piece but a odd display piece. It's the first master builder set so I would expect it to look like a display piece but it falls short. The mini figures are amazing and allow the entire third act to be played out. The price is very steep when you take into account you cannot display it like a Ultimate Collection Piece. 7/10Play Experience5.0Level of Difficulty4.0Value for Money4.0Building Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?45Betrayal at Cloud City™
