I bought it for my 9 year old son as a x-mas gift. The final result gave him a great sense of accomplishment. The rugged design of the car is way better than the real one which is too round. The real one should have come out this way. He had a lot of fun for 7 hours straight without meals. I see a lot of complaints about the noise from the gears after finishing. But I found no mistakes in the set at all. It works just fine even if my son finished all by himself. That must be caused by the two universal joints which are not connected firmly. I confirmed it for my son. If those are loosely connected, the noise will be inevitable. So just be careful when you assemble two universal joint parts inside. Yet another great set from Lego, as usual clear step by step instructions for an easy build, some great features add to the realism of this set. Once I had built it even my neighbour commented on it. This is definitely one for an experienced Technic builder - or for a novice that has access to an experienced builder. It is nicely complex and the engine build is genuinely absorbing and detailed. If working from the manual it can be difficult to deifne exactly where that small pin goes or how the sections you have just built slot together. If you have built a fair few large Technic sets this is much easier to figure out OR you can cross your fingers and hope the set comes with Instructions PLUS online. Unfortunately, this particular model doesn't have that feature so you are on your own but it is worth persevering with. The detailing on the vehicle is great and it does look the business externally. I particularly like the storage solutions on the roof and even the side mounted ladder to reach them. The gearing system actually works (if you built it right!) and it does make this fun to actually play around with and although I doubt this would be purchased as a toy it is super strong and would handle some tough play. Overall, this is one of the few builds I was genuinely upset to complete. I was having such a good time constructing this vehicle it was disappointing when it was finished but it does look great on my vehicles shelf. One of my favourite Technic builds due to the engine build (my favourite bit!) This is my first big Technic set and it blew me away! I have enjoyed Lego City sets since i was little, but this is a whole new level of fun! I love dealing with small parts and mechanics, so the build wasn't bad at all, the instructions where clear and concise, and I paced myself so that I enjoyed every bit of it. The suspension, the gearing, and the low-profile yet powerful winch are all outstanding, not to mention how realistic the headlights, color-scheme, and shape are to the real deal.Play Experience5.0Value for Money5.0Was this helpful?
