How do I sign up to the LEGO® Life app?
In the welcome screen in the app, select “Start”. You then need to choose your unique LEGO® Nickname. The Nickname Generator allows you to select the name that others will see in the app and creates randomized options for you to choose from. It will appear on your child’s profile, photos and comments. Once the nick name is selected, your child can:
- like something
- follow a group
- create their own avatar
- scan QR codes and access the interactive building instructions (Instructions PLUS)
- add products to their digital collection.
If your child wants to do more in the app like sharing creations, commenting etc., they need a parent to help them create a LEGO Account that they can sign in with.
To do that, just tap on the minifigure head and then the settings icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen and click on the button “Sign up”.
What can I do without signing in?
Your child can still see the content in the app BUT can’t upload creations, comment, receive personalized content suggestions, save favorite pictures, videos or challenges. Logging in with a LEGO Account allows your child to use all of these great features!
To sign in, just tap on the minifigure head and then the settings icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
What’s Parental Consent?
As a parent or legal guardian, you can decide which online activities, such as commenting and sharing images, you want your child to access in the online LEGO® experiences including the LEGO Life app.
Do I have to verify myself?
If you’d prefer not to verify your identity, your child can still enjoy the LEGO® Life app, but some features won’t be available.
I’m verified. What does this mean?
Amazing! Thanks for helping us keep our experiences safe for children. Your child can now upload their creations, comment on other children’s creations, enter competitions, join building challenges and more. However, this is only if you choose to let them!
What can I use for verification?
It is possible to verify by Visa, Mastercard, Diners Club, Discover and JCB credit card as well as all debit cards.
What does it cost to use credit/debit cards for verification?
Verification is of course totally FREE – you will not be charged. Your credit/debit card information will only be used for verifying your identity and we will not store your details anywhere.
Why does the LEGO Group need my credit/debit card details for verification?
The LEGO Group adheres to the COPPA and GDPR regulations to protect children online. Under these laws, credit/debit card verification is one of the recognized ways to confirm that a child’s parent is indeed a grown-up.
How do I share pictures in the LEGO® Life app?
In order to share pictures in the LEGO® Life app your child needs to have a LEGO Account and be signed in.
Once signed in, simply tap the camera icon to access the device’s camera or the image icon to access the device’s photo library and follow the instructions. Then tap on “Share it” or “Keep private” if the image should only be visible by your child.
I’ve uploaded the wrong picture! How can I delete it?
Click on the minifigure head at the bottom of your screen to go to the overview page where you have access to the images you have shared in the LEGO® Life app. Click on the image you would like to delete and click on the recycle bin icon just below the image.
I uploaded an image but it hasn’t appeared yet. What happened?
Everything in the LEGO® Life app gets moderated before it gets shared, to make sure there is nothing rude, scary or violent there. We check there is no identifying info, like your child’s name or a school logo, that everything is your child’s own work and that the picture isn’t blurry or unclear. We do all this as quickly as possible, but sometimes there’s a short wait.
What is the Avatar builder and how does it work?
The avatar image accompanies your child’s uploads and comments in the LEGO® Life app. Your child creates an avatar when signing up using minifigure parts and accessories and can always edit or add different avatars. Just tap the minifigure head at the bottom of the screen to see the avatar, then tap it to make changes!
Can I post videos in the LEGO® Life app?
Right now, it isn’t possible to upload and share videos in the app, but this is something we are working towards!

What are the minimum technical requirements for the app?
Min. requirements – ANDROID
- Android version 5.0 or higher (API Level: 21 aka Lollipop)

How do I take an AR Photo?
Go to your child's profile, click on the avatar and then click on 'Share!'. If your phone supports AR, you will be given the option to either do a 'Quick Share' or a 'Photo Shoot'. Click 'Photo Shoot' and you are off! Find a flat surface in a well lit room or area and your avatar will appear. You can now turn the avatar around and make it bigger or smaller. Once you are happy, click the button at the center to place it. Move your phone around your avatar and once you have the perfect angle, snap a photo!
Which phone or tablet do I need for the AR Photo Shoot?
You need to make sure you have a recent Android phone or an iPhone from 2017 and up. Android phones need to support Android version 8.1. and above and iPhones need to support iOS version 11 and above.
I can't get my AR avatar to appear!
Make sure you are pointing the phone at a flat horisontal surface and that you are in a well-lit room or area. Bright surfaces work the best.
How do I make my avatar bigger or smaller?
Once your avatar appears, you can use the slider on the right side of the screen to make it bigger or smaller.
Does the AR Photo Shoot require a LEGO set?
No, AR Photo Shoot does not require any LEGO sets or bricks. All your child needs is their avatar, a well-lit space or open area and their imagination.
How does my child share an AR photo?
To share a photo, you first need to make sure your child has been verified and that you have given your consent for them to share. Don't worry if you haven't yet. It's quick and easy to do and best of all: it's completely free! Once your child has taken a photo they are happy with, they can just click 'share' and their photo will be sent to our team of moderators who will check everything is ok before the photo is shown in LEGO Life.
I'm worried about my children accidentally sharing a picture of themselves.
No need to worry! We have a team of highly trained moderators who look through every single image sent to LEGO Life before it goes live. If your child accidentally share a picture of themselves, our moderators will spot it and prevent it from going live. Instead, they will send a message back and ask your child to submit a new image without showing their face.
