  Looks awesome but disappoints

  I would recommend this to a friend!

  Just finished the guitar, that means I’m halfway through the build. The guitar is very flimsy, specially in the peghead where the strings go, not that well engineered. Also, the trem cover in the back has nowhere to fit the bottom half (unless there is a step I’ve missed, but I checked plenty of times in the instructions book). Also, I’m missing 2 parts, which makes my stratocaster unfinished. The peghead should really be re-engineered so that holds string tension better.

  Clunky and chunky

  I'm disappointed. I play a Fender Strat and was super excited, but this set is meh. The headstock is a strange, not secure, build and completely out of proportion to the body. The body is stumpy and blockier than it probably needed to be. the white plate would have higlighted the pick-ups and knobs had it been smooth. Putting the strings on was odious, and there is no efficient ways to tighten them that will hold it taut. The image makes it seem like you would be able to easily switch the body from red to black, but you have to almost rebuild the whole thing. REALLY DISAPPOINTING! I was going to display this next to my guitar, but it makes the model look worse. (The amp looks really good though....)

  This fell short of expectations

  I was so excited to get this set since I saw it announced earlier in the year (or last year??) Me excitement quickly dwindled. Here's why: 1.) The price is WRONG.... this set is way too expensive for what it is. Sure you get a lot of pieces but many of them can't even be used because you have to select a color. 2.) The guitar is tiny and is not well engineered. The head of the guitar is a flimsy mess and doesn't look right. The strings were quite difficult to string and serve no real function than to look at because this set is far too fragile. 3.) the amp is kind of cool but it is totally out of scale with the guitar, as is the pedal. I love legos but frankly this is one I'm terribly disappointed I spent my hard earned money on.

  Continued Amazement

  I would recommend this to a friend!

  This, like each of the 5 other "advanced" projects I’ve built, never ceases to amaze me! Flawless every step of the way—from design, to the instructions, the parts packaging, and above all the engineering and the build. I am constantly so amazed and impressed that I just sit there nod my head at the fit of every part and sub-assembly. Always perfect, unless of course, I make one of those mistakes that is undetectable until two steps later when something else doesn’t fit. As a lifelong guitar player, and a Stratocaster at that, this build has been especially enjoyable.
