- April 18th, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0A pleasant and enjoyable build.I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfWhen I first saw the box art I kept thinking of buildings I've seen in my hometown. It looked like a nice, quite slice from the city. And the build did not disappoint. I haven't bought or built a Lego set in nearly 15 years, and with each one I build now I'm impressed by the amount of milage they get out of every piece. A lot of creativity and talent at Lego, and it shows in this set. From the stonework, to the bay window, and even how they connect every room, I couldn't help but smile thinking how much fun the people who designed this must have had. I won't spoil much, as part of the fun for me is seeing how they use pieces in clever ways, but one thing that surprised me was how they used skeleton legs to make the rooftop guardrail on top of Birch Books. That's something I never would have thought of doing, and when put together it fits together seamlessly. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking to get back into Lego, and it makes a beautiful display piece as well. That's not to say younger fans of Lego wouldn't have a great time going through the rooms and playing out scenarios with their mini figures. This is also the first set that I've come across that would make a great cooperative build, as both buildings have individual sets of instructions. It would be an enjoyable activity for families, but even couples looking to have a nice project to work on together would enjoy this as well. Great work to the folks at Lego.Level of Difficulty3.0Value for Money5.0Was this helpful?55Bookshop
- May 7th, 2020Average rating2out of 5 stars2.0Overall disappointingChrissie |Purchased for: SelfI was really excited to get this as it looks so lovely in the picture but I was so underwhelmed building it and with the final result. The interior detail is really lacking due to the small size of each building and the back of both buildings is so boring. I am also really frustrated that the burgundy bricks that make the roof of the book shop are two different colours. My 11 year old son has still had lots of fun playing with the set but compared to the Diner and Assembly Square for example, this is well below par.Play Experience4.0Value for Money3.0Build Time: 4 hrsBuilding Experience: Expert LEGO builderWas this helpful?25Bookshop
- May 25th, 2020Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0I love it!I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI own three expert modular buildings so I am not the most experienced with this series and more experienced lego fans may have more useful things to say but I love this set. The build was fun, the main colors of the buildings look nice together, and it fits right in with my other two modular buildings. One odd thing is that one of the pieces looks like its marbled when I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t be but, its not a huge deal because you can only see it from the side. I do think this set could use a little more interior detail, particularly in the apartment above the book store but I can always do that myself using my frankly ridiculously huge collection of legos. I love this set and I cant wait to see what lego does with this series next!1 July 2020Emily, Customer ServiceHmm, that's odd! Don't worry, though. It's super easy to request a replacement for that piece. Head to LEGO.build/BricksPieces-BV to get started.Level of Difficulty3.0Value for Money5.0Was this helpful?55Bookshop
- March 12th, 2021Average rating4out of 5 stars4.0Really fun modular setI would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI got this set for myself earlier this year and the part I most enjoyed was building it. I actually liked how there was two different townhouses in the set. I want to get the police station set so I can link them together and make a little street. Overall it was really fun at first, but then it got a bit boring, because there wasn’t much of a story to it. But I still think you should make more sets like this. Just maybe tone it down on the townhouse and apartments for these builds. Side note: I like how these sets all look like they are set in different eras (eg 30s Bookshop, 40s Police Station, 50s Diner and 60s Corner Garage).Play Experience4.0Level of Difficulty4.0Value for Money4.0Build Time: 6 hrsBuilding Experience: Novice LEGO builderWas this helpful?45Bookshop
