As an Associate Cyber Security Specialist, Diamond likens her role to being a digital guardian. Identifying and combating cyber threats, she plays a key role in keeping our colleagues and our reputation safe from harm.
“I guess you could say I’m like a guardian for computers. I watch over them to make sure they are safe from any bad guys who might try to cause trouble. By monitoring and analysing our digital systems and networks, we can detect and respond to potential security incidents quickly and effectively.”
This proactive approach helps prevent data breaches, financial losses and reputational damage. Ultimately, Diamond helps to ensure stability and continuity in an increasingly digital world.
“What I bring is a combination of technical expertise, creativity and problem-solving skills. It's like being a digital detective. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn and adapt. My team is small right now but it’s amazing and super supportive. This is important as we have to be constantly vigilant and think outside the box to maintain a safe environment."

Since joining, Diamond’s role has evolved significantly.
“Initially, I focused primarily on day-to-day monitoring and incident response. However, as I gained experience, I was able to focus more on incident handling and be more impactful.
“I’ve developed a lot with the support of my manager, my people leader and teammates. Together, we’ve identified areas for growth and opportunities to expand my skills. Their feedback and the training platforms and resources the business provides have made a huge difference. I’ve definitely grown here.”
Diamond is a great believer in openness and collaboration. It’s this, she feels, that enhances her ability to adapt to evolving cybersecurity threats.

Given the nature of her role, Diamond is keen to point out how play is, perhaps surprisingly, incorporated in her role.
“I enjoy solving puzzles, so for me, analysing and handling incidents is like playing a cyber detective. This playful mindset energises me, allowing me to approach my work in a fun and engaging way. At the same time, it gives me a sense of purpose, knowing that as a 'cyber detective', I am responsible for maintaining the integrity and accountability of our cyberspace.”
Beyond work, Diamond finds that her well-being and work/life balance are also looked after.
“We have the flexibility to manage our workloads to suit our personal needs. Our ‘Best of Both’ policy helps us maintain a healthy balance. I feel valued and respected because of this.”
