“I never grew up with LEGO® bricks. This was something I learned to love when I was an adult watching the LEGO movie. I’m glad that I did. Now I understand why grown adults can justify to the their partners owning our Millenium Falcon. It’s because it’s just mind-blowingly cool.”

It’s this kind of passion that Beau brings to his work here.

“I guess I’m just really lucky. I get to make stuff that (hopefully) makes folks smile. Our goal is pretty simple: to get you people as excited about LEGO products as we are! It’s about always trying to tap into that inner child, that sense of wonder and playfulness that makes the LEGO experience so special."

“I’m still a kid at heart. So that helps. I’ve spent longer here than at any other place in my career. And the opportunity just landed in my lap. Since then, I’ve climbed the ranks from brand strategist to brand strategy director.”

Being able to be himself is something that Beau sets a lot of store by. Why is this, we ask, and how does it inspire him?

“I think it’s rare for a large organisation to tell you to bring your whole self to work - and actually mean it. Not only that, but actively encourage it too. It’s a smart move really. It all ties into the spirit of play."

"We all need more play in our lives. If we don’t have it, we just end up becoming boring, cynical adults. We actually get to have a work-life balance too. It's all about keeping that spark of play alive, both in our work and in our lives."

“Besides, to come up with ideas you want to play with yourself, you have to actually be playful yourself. This is when you do the stuff you’re most proud of.”


Can he share some of these highlights with us?

“Oh sure. Anything that helps curious minds discover our amazing products is an achievement, I think."

“One of my proudest moments was launching LEGO VIDIYO. In case you’re not familiar, it’s a product that enables children to create their own music videos and dance clips using a range of LEGO sets. There’s an app that goes with it too. So it’s a great way to explore creativity."

“Coming up with the strategy and bringing the campaign to life was a real thrill. I also came up with the initial foundation for the LEGO Space campaign. It was pretty special to see that blossom."

With all this said, we imagine it must be hard for Beau to pin down what he likes best about being here.

“Listen, my job is awesome. Working here is a blast. We have an amazing team, a playful atmosphere, and the freedom to be ourselves. Plus, we get to play with toys all day. Who wouldn’t love that."

“But most of all, listening to children is just so refreshing. I learn from my colleagues too, here in the LEGO Agency, of course. With young, curious minds, it’s different somehow. They teach me something new every single time. Finding the energy to keep pace with their thinking keeps me on my toes. That’s why I’m here.”

**Heather** is passionate about two things: LEGO® bricks and people. As one of our **store managers**, she loves the opportunity this gives her to helping her team to develop and our guests to discover the joy of building.

“When I was little, my dad had a huge red bin full of LEGO bricks, I used to beg him to let me play with them. I would sit for hours and build everything from cars to houses to castles. These days, I get to do this, as well as creating fun games for my team to help them explore their skills." 

"It's a challenging and rewarding job, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing company. I love the fact I work for a brand that genuinely cares so much about its people and values as they support our growth, encourage us to be creative, and prioritise our well-being."

“I remember when I first joined, we were the only store in our state; it was an amazing experience to be a part of. Stocking the shelves and seeing the excitement on people's faces when they walked through the door was unforgettable. That’s why I look forward so much to new store openings. I get to hire a brand-new team, and we get to grow and learn new things together every day.”

Heather is clearly very much engaged in her role and invested in her team. But how about when it comes to customers. What does she enjoy most about this?

“Being a part of the toy world has always been a passion of mine. You’re a part of the special moments in people lives including birthdays, graduations, school awards, and everything else. Parents often use toys as an award for achievements. When they come into the store with their children, you get to be experience that with them.”

“It’s what my team and I love about what we do. We’re super-supportive of one another and we share ideas about how we can make our brand come alive. Everyone has the support to create; everyone has the support to improve.”

When it comes to her own career path and work/life balance, Heather is equally enthusiastic:

"My goal is to empower educators to be successful in the classroom. I work with them to develop plans, build confidence, and ensure that LEGO® Education sets are appropriate for their students' learning needs. I believe that every student deserves the opportunity to participate and succeed in STEM, regardless of their background or learning style."

A creative and consultative approach to her work, Alysha believes, is crucial to her success. This enables her to work closely with educators and understand their unique needs and challenges.

“Tailored solutions are what’s needed here. That’s why I'm always looking for new and innovative ways to use our products. When a customer asks a question I don't have an answer to, it often leads to new discoveries and even more creative applications. With this in mind, it helps that our products have a 'low floor, high ceiling,' so they can be used in a variety of ways to meet the needs of diverse learners."

Alysha is also passionate about professional development for educators. To this end, she leads workshops where teachers can learn how to effectively implement LEGO Education solutions in their classrooms.

"I love seeing the excitement and enthusiasm that teachers bring to these workshops. It's a reminder of the power of collaboration and the importance of lifelong learning.

"My role is not simply about selling products; it's about building relationships and making a positive impact on the education community. I'm fortunate to work with amazing educators who are dedicated to their students and passionate about their work. That’s so inspiring. 


Alysha is also justifiably proud of her contributions to LEGO Education's US DEIB Council:
“Focusing on promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the company and the broader education community is so important. I believe that every child deserves to see themselves reflected in the learning materials and experiences they encounter. We’re very much committed to creating inclusive and equitable learning environments for all."

The decision to become a mentor was driven by my commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as I believe that for any organization to thrive, it must embrace a wide array of perspectives and experiences. The Senior Leader Mentoring program at LEGO Group offers an innovative approach to fostering inclusivity by having senior leaders as mentees and employees from underrepresented groups as mentors. **Charlotte Bell** is a **Brick Specialist and Sales Assistant** in one of our stores. From a young age, Charlotte was captivated by the endless possibilities that LEGO® bricks offered. Now she gets to share that excitement with others every day. 

"Ever since I was young, I wanted to work for the LEGO Group. It’s always been my dream. When I was walking in the mall and saw that a LEGO store was coming soon, I jumped at the opportunity.

For Charlotte, the LEGO store is not just a workplace; it's a playground where creativity and imagination come to life. She thrives on collaborating with her diverse team, each of whom brings their own unique personality and perspective to the table.

"As people, we’re very different. But, as a team, we’re united in our love of LEGO bricks. So we all come together really well. It’s a lot of fun.”

The store's creative culture fuels Charlotte's passion for her work. She loves engaging with customers, helping them find the perfect set.

"I love to share my own creations or the sets I’ve built with others. Sometimes I can’t believe this is my actual job. Imagine that, being able to share your passion with others. Every. Single. Day. It’s a good feeling.”

One of Charlotte's most memorable projects was helping create the brick and pieces grab bags for the store. These enable our customers to add more bricks to their collection and enhance their build experience.

"My part was helping create them, so I was there from the start of it all. I think the fact our Pick and Build bags being so well-liked is one of my proudest moments.”

Beyond the duties of her role, Charlotte finds joy in the simple act of building with LEGO bricks. "I like to build little things that come from the Pick and Build wall and make them into our grab bags," she shares. For her, building is not just a task; it's a way to relax, de-stress, and express her creativity.

“My favourite LEGO set is the Brick Bank Creator set. I just love how its intricate details enable me to tell such rich stories. I guess it’s the same reason I love the modular series. It allows for endless customisation and building possibilities.

“Some of my favourite memories have been made at the LEGO store. I can remember visiting the Pick a Brick wall as a child and grabbing handfuls of pieces to create giant buildings at home. This one time, I built a movie theatre. It came out super-cool. I was so proud of it.”


Working at the LEGO store has exceeded Charlotte's expectations. The only change she’s really noticed is that she now helps with the Pick and Build wall more often than ever. 

“Being able to joke around with my peers and start conversations with customers about their builds is the perfect balance for me. My job is fun, relaxing, creative. What’s not to like about that?”

As she continues her journey with us, we’re sure Charlotte’s imagination and enjoyment of the play experience will continue to inspire both her colleagues and the countless customers she’ll get to meet.

**Fernanda's** journey began with a childhood love for LEGO® bricks. Today, she brings this passion to her work creating a whole new world of play experiences. 

“When I moved to Denmark with my family, I dreamt of working at the LEGO Group. While it seemed like a long shot given my background in computer science, when I applied, I got the job! Ever since, I've been immersed in this amazing world where creativity and technology intersect.

“My job is all about teaching computers to learn, much like kids learn through play. I create algorithms that help computers recognise patterns and make predictions based on data. This technology might sound complex, but you interact with it every day. It's how your phone recognises your face or how online stores recommend products you might like.” 

Fernanda uses this same technology in her work every day. Can she tell us more about what this involves?

“I've helped launch products where we used Machine Learning and Augmented Reality to bring LEGO creations to life. Right now, I'm working on some exciting new projects that will create even more imaginative and interactive play experiences.

“My role has evolved over time, and thanks to the support of my colleagues and leaders, I've been able to focus on projects that truly ignite my passion. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is the freedom I have to propose new ideas and experiment with different approaches. It's incredibly exciting to see those ideas come to life in products that kids and families around the world enjoy.”

In this new and ever-evolving area of technology, Fernanda is very clear about how to make the most of it:

“The secret ingredient to our success lies in maintaining a playful mindset. We approach our work with curiosity, creativity, and a whole lot of fun. By actively playing with and testing our own products, we gain valuable insights that help us understand what resonates with kids.

“Of course, we also learn a great deal by observing how kids play. Their boundless imagination and creativity are a constant source of inspiration for us. By understanding their play patterns and preferences, we can create experiences that spark their curiosity and keep them engaged.”

“The most fulfilling moments come when I see the impact of our work firsthand. When a child's face lights up with joy as they interact with a LEGO creation that I helped bring to life, it reminds me why I love what I do.

“If you're passionate about technology and play, and you're not afraid to experiment and explore new ideas, this is such an exciting place to be right now. The possibilities are endless.”

We asked colleagues in our LEGO® Japan office to talk about their careers, their favourite work memories and the things that make them proud to work here.

“My role is to bring you fun and creative moments!” says **Eiko Konishi**, who is **Marketing Director** at **LEGO Japan**.

“I’ve been in the LEGO Group for 10 years and I get inspired by my colleagues and find something new in my work every day. I have the most fun at work when I’m chatting with colleagues and discussing new ideas. I never get bored!

“My most interesting project was bringing LEGO Masters to Japan. The program launch was a proud moment, but collaborating and delivering it as a team was the most valuable thing. 

“I’ve worked in both the sales and marketing teams. I’ve never seen a company that cares so much about wellbeing and work/life balance. All the People Leaders I’ve worked with here have supported me and helped me challenge myself and widen my experience of the job.

“My purpose is to reach out to as many children as possible and give them a chance to experience learning through play. It’s a wonderful job. Play can create space in your heart and give you new perspectives and ideas in your daily life. It’s so important for everyone to remember the value of play, especially when you have a busy life.”


**Millie Asami Miyashita** describes her job as **Digital Marketing Manager** as “finding ways to make digital life even more fun and inspiring!"

“Every single project I work on is exciting - from composing a social media post to being a lead on a branding campaign. Everything we do is connected to our mission to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow. I love it when I see a social media post inspired by our campaign message. It makes me happy that someone had a memorable play experience. I love seeing the great big smiles of consumers when they’re playing with LEGO bricks! 

"I have worked here for three years and one of the great things is the support for development. Every employee gets to decide their own career vision. We have lots of opportunities to discuss and learn about the development process, including eLearning courses, on-site workshops and dialogue sessions with the leadership team.

“The most important thing I learned is that the things we value at work – curiosity, bravery and focus – are encouraged and applied to every single task. When I first started, I felt a little awkward about receiving feedback, but I changed how I thought about it and realized that getting advice from different points of view only helps projects get even better.

“My role is communicating directly with our audience, so the spirit of play is super important. I’m always looking for ways to find playful communication rather than just giving people information. The digital platform is always evolving, so I need to stay engaged and keep trying new things. It’s fun and it’s helped me become a person who isn’t afraid of change.”

**Yuka Matsuzawa** knows that working for the LEGO Group is the dream for a lot of people. “My daughter's friend wants to be a LEGO employee because she loves LEGO sets."

“I’m the **Order Manager** and I’ve worked for the LEGO Group for five years.” she explains. “I really like the culture here; cooperation is essential. The last company I worked at was very conservative and it wasn't an environment where I could take on challenges. I looked at the LEGO Group and I really liked the way that people are given a chance and listened to if they speak up, so I applied here. In my last company the dress code was very strict, but in my team, we have fun dress codes for our team meetings like wearing animal prints or clothes that don’t fit you!

"What’s Yuka’s favourite work memory? “I really enjoyed my work as part of the project to improve the percentage of products in Amazon that were Retail Out of Stock (ROOS), which was affecting our customer pulse scores. My role was to investigate, analyse and come up with solutions. As a result, the number of products out of stock went down and customer satisfaction went up. 

“My job always gives me and my team new challenges. I believe in 'learning through play’. LEGO bricks aren’t just bricks, they are an unlimited play tool. When employees experience the fun of the product then we can let the rest of the world know how exciting it is. The Santa’s Helper initiative is wonderful. When I see big smiles from children and adults and get a big thank you from them, I really feel that's why I'm here.”

“The LEGO Group prioritizes children’s growth and that deeply resonates with me,” says **Hiroki Furukawa**. “I wanted to contribute to children’s futures.”

“I’m a **Senior Key Account Manager** and role is to make sure that as many children as possible can find LEGO sets in stores! We work with retailers to create exciting sales spaces. We collaborate with partners to plan for the future to make sure that lots of retail companies can grow alongside the LEGO Group. We spread smiles across Japan, which has such a positive impact on my life! 

“I have realized the importance of collaboration beyond my direct responsibilities. I’ve been working on creating safe spaces for teamwork and growth. A playful workplace means prioritizing a creative approach and valuing failure. This creates an environment where employees can work joyfully and can infuse innovation and creativity into our daily work. 

“I have over 18 years of experience in the toy industry. Our team members come from diverse backgrounds — some have been with the LEGO Group for over 25 years, while others joined from entirely different industries. It’s amazing how these varied experiences come together in our current team, creating fascinating chemistry. 

“One of the most rewarding experiences for me was contributing to the growth of a team member. Witnessing their joy and tears when they were promoted was truly heartwarming. Working alongside them also helped me grow personally.”

As a student, Software Engineer, Bianca, was inspired by her experience of working with the LEGO Group. It became her dream to enable curious minds to feel how she had felt. She joined us at LEGO Education in April 2021. This is her story.

“I first came to Denmark in 2015. I moved here from Romania to study at VIA, a university in Horsens. This is where I had my first experience of programming. With the help of an NXT robot, I learned how to follow a moving object. That was the moment I realised how big of an impact LEGO sets can have in students’ lives. Perhaps more importantly, it showed me how easy it is to learn complex topics while having a lot of fun.”

Since then, she has been driven to contribute as much as she could to the next generation of products. Why? Quite simply because she wanted to share with children the sense of wonder she had while learning how to programme a robot.

“I'm super proud to say that my dream came true. I got accepted as a Junior Software Engineer at LEGO Education and I’ve not looked back since. To begin with, I was working on the development of Spike Prime and Spike Essential - key learning tools in the area of Robotics and STEM.  

“This is what gets me out of bed every morning: the fact I can impact children's lives in a positive way with projects I've helped to develop. It also helps that I’m part of a superhero team with developers, designers, content creators, and others. Each of us brings our own unique powers to create something truly awesome. Ultimately, we’re helping children learn and making teachers’ jobs become a bit easier.” 

So what does this involve?

“I use programming languages that bring applications and websites to life. Technology changes so quickly. Which is great! But it also introduces new problems that we may have not foreseen. It’s my job to solve them and ensure that the curious minds we inspire have a positive digital experience. This means creating trouble-free, stress-free applications that take the pressure off teachers. So, they can do what they do best - teach, engage, inspire.”

Creativity is a key part of what we do as a business. But how does Bianca bring this to her work?

“Well, by embracing the iterative nature of software development. This allows me to improve my code incrementally which, in turn, drives innovation in what I do. Creativity comes through in helping with planning team events too - that and coming up with playful missions and activities. These inspire the team and promote trust while building better relationships. Team culture plays an important role in being a productive team!”

“It’s also there in play. Experimenting with different coding methods, libraries and tools helps me to think more creatively. I learn new skills all the time and find innovative solutions to problems. This keeps me motivated and enhances my problem-solving skills, contributing to my success in delivering effective solutions.”

Does she ever get to see her work in action and how does this make her feel?

“Oh yes, I get to visit schools and engage with both children and teachers. They learn together through playful exploration and LEGO Education products are at the heart of this. For me, it's about empowering students to explore and think critically. This is how we solve problems in fun and engaging ways. It helps prepare students for life and the challenges they may face. - what could be better than that.

“I'm proud that my work brings so much joy to the learning experience - what could be better than that.”

**Tracy**, who works in our **Retail Operations Team in Shanghai, China**, shares the belief in the power of playful learning. It’s how our colleagues are able  inspire and develop the curious minds of the builders of tomorrow. By making play a part of what we do, we ensure that everyone who works with us is enabled, empowered and engaged.

Seven women. Seven engineers. Each with their own perspective. Each with shared experiences. Meet **Christine**, **Karina**, **Daphne**, **Katerine**, **Renate**, **Frederikke** and **Adrienne** as they share their stories to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day.

**Christine** from our site in Kladno, Czech Republic, has applied her mechanical engineering background to problem solving for over a decade. She’s worked in several countries and is a strong advocate for respect for women in the workplace.

“Personally, I wish women's work was more normalized, and not celebrated like something extraordinary. Like every time I hear "wow, for a woman, that's a great achievement" and I just feel like "no, this is an achievement’. It’s genderless. I don't need to be reminded that I’m a woman.”

"One of the great things about engineering for me is that you get to see your work out there in the real world. Particularly so as a mechanical engineer - from hospital beds to swimming pool filters. But seeing LEGO sets I’ve helped design gives me a special feeling. Knowing that I’ve helped have an impact on curious minds makes my hours sitting by the computer designing things so real and so tangible. I love it."

**Karina's** journey from sales assistant to industrial design engineer shows the transformative possibilities of an engineering education. A Mechanical Engineer in Billund, she emphasises the importance of teamwork and collaboration in her role which focuses on refining and creating new LEGO® elements. She highlights the supportive and safe environment at the LEGO Group, where diversity is valued, and everyone's opinions are heard.

“Ultimately, it shouldn’t really matter which gender you are. This is a great place to work. Full stop. As a woman in particular I feel super safe and very comfortable here. We should continue trying to attract more women into engineering because there are so many of us who are great at what we do. Not just because we’re female, but because we collaborate and bring our own perspective."

"My Brickmate, **Anne**, has been a huge inspiration to me. She has taught me a great deal and I know I will continue to learn from curious minds as they join.”


**Daphne**, a Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer, delves into the exciting world of 3D printing. She works on improving processes for printing equipment and LEGO bricks, pushing the boundaries of this relatively new technology. Her experience highlights the challenges and rewards of working on cutting-edge projects that break new ground. She sees the culture here as inclusive and supportive.

“Don't believe that you need to fit a certain mold taken seriously as an engineer. That's simply not true. Consider all the time you spend worrying about being taken seriously or fitting in. Replace that with time spent playing, and you'll understand what it's like to be a female engineer at the LEGO Group. Engineering is fundamentally about exploring and engaging with the world around us and transforming it for the better—for everyone."

At our Kladno site, **Katerina**, is an Equipment Manager. She is responsible for the continuous operation of our site machines. This means collaborating with technicians and production planners to troubleshoot problems as they arise.

“Engineering can still be a bit of a ‘man’s world’. I’m not sure why other than this has always been the case. But, given that this is a field that is driven by finding better solutions, it’s a very natural place for women to be. In general, I feel no restrictions or discrimination coming from the fact I’m a woman. I hope more will join us soon. We are making an impact. We can make a bigger one.” 

**Renáta** believes “the engineer's role is to make life easier and better with new products and new technologies”. As one of our Process Engineers, she likes to look at problems in a structured way.

"I love to challenge myself and I’m always look for a new way forward. A new technology, a daily problem is an opportunity to learn something new. There is so much opportunity to do so as science improves continuously. We just need people who make the connection between the need and the solution. We’re a very open-minded workplace. We appreciate the knowledge our people bring. This means there are plenty of possibilities to improve yourself and expand the scope of your interest." 


“Engineering has transformed my approach to life”, **Frederikke** tells us. She’s an Operational Technology Transformation Manager at the LEGO Group in Billund. “We live in an environment where changes happens all around the world every second, we stumble into challenges every day, but I know based on my engineering background that there is always a solution out there, it is just a matter of finding it and solving it together with other bright minds.

"I feel that the LEGO Group empowers women. There is a high focus on diversity and inclusion. Since joining, I’ve been inspired by seeing female leaders in engineering. This is far from the case elsewhere. Change is happening. It’s visible. This means there is more to come.”

**Adrienn** works as an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer in Nyíregyháza, Hungary. It’s her role to create a safe place to work. She does so by conducting risk assessments, implementing safety protocols, ensuring compliance with regulations, providing training and education, monitoring workplace conditions, and promoting a culture of safety awareness.
