    Not so repetitive

Jeg vil anbefale denne til en ven!
I have soon finished this set over the course of 3 days and I must say I did not felt it to be as repetitive as I feared before I started. I feel like it’s well worth it’s money and the build overall feels rewarding and fun! Box 1 was the foundation and that felt very fun since you did big progress fast. In box two there where somewhere around 7 segments x 2 that where exactly the same and that’s the highest number in the whole set. Since I noticed this I opened several bags at once and built them side by side and that helped to lower the feeling of building the same thing over and over again. In box 3 you start with the higher segments and here the foundations might be only 2 different types but there is difference higher up so I decided I build them separately. Every segment took 15-20 min so it’s enough time to get rid of the feeling that your doing the same thing over and over again that you could get from something that takes only a couple of minutes. A side note that in box 3, the last bags where missing (nr29) found them both in box 4 instead, with the bigger one broken and parts spread out. Although no part where missing so I could continue the build, but if it’s intended for the bag to be in box 4 you have no info about it anywhere. Box 4 so far is the last high segments and then some threes, cars and top parts for all of the lower segments. Couple of more hours and it’s done :)

An Iconic Set for an Icon

Jeg vil anbefale denne til en ven!
I was beyond thrilled when Lego announced the Colosseum set, as the size and detail was something I had been craving in a Lego set during these stay at home times. While the price is steep (thank goodness for VIP point discounts), the scale was much larger than expected and the details were nothing short of amazing. Seeing that they even had the details of the order of the columns brought a good giggle to my history nerd mind. There was concern going into this set that it would get repetitive and boring, but each section varied just enough to where I didn't get too bored. Though since there were minor changes from section to section, I found myself making mistakes quite a bit when my brain would go on autopilot. The brick separator is going to be your best friend with this. It took about 22 hours to build, spread over 5 days. My only complaint are the instruction manuals. Some of the details would get lost in spine of the book and it was easy to overlook steps. I found it easier to download the PDFs from the Lego website and look at the instructions on my computer instead of the manual itself. Overall this set is a huge win, and love how Lego took into consideration moving it, as it's pretty sturdy when picked up from both ends. It's much easier to move than other landmark sets like the Taj Mahal and Big Ben. The set is definitely a show stopper and is one of my favorites in the collection.

    Amazing Display Model
    | 35-44
Jeg vil anbefale denne til en ven!
I went to my local LEGO store looking for the UCS Millenium Falcon but purchased The Colosseum instead since they were sold out of the Falcon. It took me about two weeks to complete the build. Spending no more than an hour or two per day due to the repetitive nature of the build. I found splitting it up made it less boring. I have encountered some of the issues others mentioned including: bent instruction manuals (it’s a shame... what happened to LEGO using cardboard to keep manuals rigid in the boxes? That should be employed for sets like this). Additionally, the orange plates on the bottom of the set pop off easily from the set flexing when you pick it up. All in all though it’s a sturdy build if you pick it up carefully. Not so much if you accidentally bump some of the upper sections. In summary, it’s an amazing display model and will stay assembled and on display in my house for many years to come. My only suggestion for improvement would have been for LEGO to include some side builds such as a Roman gladiator, weapons, armor rack or something of that sort for display on the side. The chariot works well if you’re lucky enough to buy this set at its release.

    The beating heart of Rome
Jeg vil anbefale denne til en ven!
First the Cons: EXTREMELY repetitive but considering the structure what else does one expect. Instruction manuals very poorly packaged-pretty much permanently folded Missing pieces- only a few for my set from random bags but there are always extras so I only wound up actually missing One piece. IMHO a design flaw on the base- the orange pieces meant to tie the base pieces together frequently popped off when moving the base around. And the structure of the higher walls is extremely flimsy and requires a very delicate touch to assemble and place on the set. Now- It took me a total of 51 hours in multiple sessions to complete so I got plenty of hands on time with the set. This set is no quickie. I felt like the historical notes interspersed throughout the instruction manuals help give me a better understanding of what I was building and its function 99% of the steps in building each part are logical and made sense however there are a few places were some parts would clearly have gone on easier if they had been put together earlier in the steps and would not have made continuing the section any harder. Even though I’built this thing in multiple different sessions my fingers really were sore after about the first 10 hours and stay that way until the end. In spite of the minor flaws I really love the set and loved building it and loved imagining all of the history involved with real place. I love looking at it every day. Have say say that it is worth every bit of the price even though for a working Joe like me that price is pretty high but a lot of overtime makes up for a lot of shortcomings in finances.
