Core responsibilities

• Drive synergy and collaboration within the Lead engineering team and with the Data Engineering DevOps and Cloud infrastructure teams.

• Create with the team a seamless integration of our BI, Data Science and ML/AI architectures, workflows and tooling.

• Understand data and how to enable the business with making data easily accessible throughout the LEGO® business.

• Understanding of our current data landscape and products, and alongside the Data

• Engineering team to evolve our way of working and our concepts around data platforms

• Bring the conceptual architecture for our Data Application Execution platform to life and enable the LEGO Group to have true self service for Data Products and Insight generation.

• Working in close collaboration with the Engineering teams, the Enterprise Data Architect, the Information Architect and the business stakeholders, to shape the next generation data platform at the LEGO Group.

• Be hands on in designing and bringing our conceptual architecture around Data Insights Portal and our next generation data platform to life.

• Engage with the Data Infrastructure/Platform Lead and the Platforms Engineers to build a solid cloud infrastructure that can support the future data platform at the LEGO Group.

Play your part in our team succeeding

This role is part of a Lead Data Engineering team, who ensures that the LEGO Group and the data teams are enabled to create awesome Data Products, AI/ML architectures, Analytics and Tools for Insights generation.

The department is a function within ET&A and is passionate about designing, building and maintaining big Data Products. The department is creating solutions for all areas of the LEGO Group and works within a multi-functional team, which have full-stack responsibility of the solutions we build.

The department has a close relationship with the Data Science teams, the analytical teams to drive the data driven decision agenda in the LEGO Group. Thus a broad approach on cross-organizational alignment is vital.

Do you have what it takes?

• Experience in engineering design of Data Platforms and Data portals.

• Experience with self-service style architecture/engineering patterns for Data Products and platforms is a big plus.

• Working comfortably with business partners and Data Engineers. – Both Data engineers in the team and data engineers in the wider organization.

• Experience in creating solid Data Engineering best practices and building Data Products.

• Full data stack understanding, and an ability to quickly understand and adapt to new tools.

• Knowledge with distributed computing infrastructure.

• Cloud based computing – preferably AWS but GCP and Azure is also encouraged.

• Experience with containerized infrastructure.

• Working in globally distributed teams.

• Advanced English both written and verbally is a need since we work with globally distributed teams.

On top, it would be an advantage, but not a must, if you have experience with:

• Knowledge / Understanding of front-end application/Portal creation.

• Experience within data catalogues.

• Experience with crafting a BI style platform on a data lake.

• Experience with implementing metrics engines and information architecture of a data platform.

• Knowledge and interest within Data Applications execution and most important how to enable this for self-service.

• Hadoop based systems – Cloudera stack.

• Spark, Python, Hive, AWS cloud tools.
