New members of LEGO Group Board

Two new members were appointed to the Board of Directors of the parent company of the LEGO Group at its annual general meeting on April 23. The two new Board members are Chief Operating Officer Kåre Schultz, Novo Nordisk Group, and Thomas Kirk Kristiansen, fourth generation of the Kirk Kristiansen family. They take over from Armin Broger and Mogens Johansen who have both expressed a wish to retire from the Board.

The other members of the Board – Mads Øvlisen (Chairman), Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen (Vice Chairman), Gunnar Brock and Torben Ballegaard Sørensen – remain as directors of the LEGO Group parent company.

Kåre Schultz (45) holds an M.Sc. degree in economics from the University of Copenhagen. After a few years with management consultants Andersen Consulting and McKinsey he joined Novo Nordisk in 1989, where he has been responsible for a series of management assignments in such fields as finance, planning, quality, production, sales and marketing. Kåre Schultz is currently Executive Vice President and COO at the Novo Nordisk Group and is based in Switzerland.

Thomas Kirk Kristiansen (28) has a degree in marketing, and for a period he was employed as a trainee with the LEGO Group. Thomas Kirk Kristiansen, with his two sisters, is a minority shareholder in LEGO Holding A/S of which he will also be a Board member. Since 2005 he has attended Board meetings of the LEGO Group’s parent company as an observer. He is also a member of the LEGO Group’s Brand & Innovation Board.
Thomas Kirk Kristiansen – with his wife – owns and operates Kirk Arabians, a stud farm in Funen in central Denmark. He is also a member of the Board of the Danish Society of Purebred Arabian Horses.

Mogens Johansen has been the family representative on the Board of the LEGO Group parent company since 1978. Armin Broger, CEO of Levi Strauss Europe, joined the Board in 2005.

LEGO Group = LEGO A/S Group
As a consequence of the ongoing streamlining of the organisation’s corporate and capital structure the LEGO A/S Group will in future be responsible for all LEGO activities in the toy market, and the name LEGO Group will be used for LEGO A/S and its subsidiaries. Until January 1, 2007, the name referred to the LEGO Holding A/S Group.

In connection with the change, the present Board of Directors of LEGO Holding A/S will in future be the Board of Directors of LEGO A/S, and the above mentioned Board composition therefore applies to the Board of LEGO A/S.
These changes were announced in connection with publication of the annual accounts in February.

LEGO Holding A/S
At the upcoming annual general meeting of LEGO Holding A/S, a new Board of Directors will be appointed comprising Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen (Chairman), Mads Øvlisen, Peter Gæmelke and Thomas Kirk Kristiansen.
The primary aim of LEGO Holding A/S is to provide financial support to the LEGO Group. In addition, the LEGO Holding A/S Group has other activities in the fields of investment and finance.
The new Board at LEGO Holding A/S was also announced in February.
