LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education NXT Concept LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education NXT is the latest in educational robotics, specifically designed for use by teachers and other adults working with groups of children. The NXT concept includes: Construction SetsTwo construction sets are available; the Base Set (9797) and the Resource Set (9648). The Base Set enables 2-3 students to build and program real-life robots. It includes an intelligent NXT brick, sensors, interactive servo motors, a rechargeable battery, building instructions, etc. The Resource Set is an ideal supplement to the Base Set. It provides a lot of additional building elements such as beams, axles, connectors, crane hook, tread wheel, etc, enabling students and educators to build an even wider variety of models. Easy to Use SoftwareBased on the industry-leading LabVIEW™, the MINDSTORMS® Education software offers a user-friendly, icon-based interface that enables drag-and-drop programming. The low threshold, high ceiling nature of the software enables programming at all levels, making MINDSTORMS® Education relevant for eight year olds as well and university students. View Demo Curriculum Materials We offer CD ROMs with extensive curriculum materials including presentations, video clips, teacher introduction materials and student worksheets. Developed by Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Academy, the activities provide step-by-step guides to robotics engineering using the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education hardware and software. View Demo. In addition to the regular MINDSTORMS® software, ROBOT C (2000081) provides an alternative text-based programming language. Designed by the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy, ROBOT C can be used with both the NXT and the RCX systems. Community Website In cooperation with Tufts University’s Center for Engineering Educational Outreach, LEGO Education runs a community website on www.LEGOengineering.com. The community website provides access to: • a range of tools and downloads • technical support (RCX concept) • community debates |
